20 Early Services

XX EARLY SERVICES Every encouragement should be given to boys who have special religious obligations, to meet them in full. On residential courses it will be necessary to check up in advance about times and places of Communion Services and Mass, and where necessary to arrange for transport to and from the churches. Churchgoers should be inspected before setting out, and on no account must they be allowed to arrive late at their places of worship. On the other hand, no undue pressure should be put on the boys to attend early services. It will be sufficient i Scouters; who are churchmen announce their own intention to attend and invite people of a like mind to join them. Personal example in a matter of this sort is of the greatest importance, and is indeed the only form of persuasion possible. Arrangements for a later breakfast for churchgoers should be made in advance. It would be disastrous if boys were penalized for carrying out their religious duties. 53 I
