Present or Accounted For!Try this method of opening your Camp Fire Program just often enough to keep the idea alive but not often enough to allow it to become common.Scoutmaster: "Scouts attention! Scribe, you will call the roll of absent Scouts who on their honor did their best to do their duty to God and their Country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep themselves physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight." Scribe steps forward and in clear unhurried voice calls the Roll of the absent Scouts: George Washington. Roger Williams. John Hancock. Thomas Jefferson. John Adams. Paul Revere. Nathaniel Greene. Israel Putnam. Patrick Henry. Nathan Hale. Ethan Allen. Daniel Boone. Meriweather Lewis. George Rogers Clark. Davi Crockett. Ulysses S. Grant. Robert E. Lee. David Glasgow Farragut. Phillip Henry Sheridan. John Paul Jones. Matthew Galbraith Perry. William Henry Harrison. John A. Logan. Abraham Lincoln. William McKinley. Theodore Roosevelt. Scribe then turns to Scoutmaster or Master of Ceremonies the Scribe says: "And those present, Sir:" (calls regular roll, each boy calling a snappy "Present, Sir"). Scribe then turns to Scoutmaster and says: "Sir, all present or accounted for." Scoutmaster: "In emulation of our great but absent members, we will reaffirm our Scout Oath." All Scouts to come to "Scout Sign," and in unison repeat: "On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, and to, obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight." They then give the Salute, while reciting: "I pledge allegiance to The Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
