(Above) Gesture Signals from the 1945 Handbook for Boys are from Dan Beard's American Boy's Book of Sign, Signals, & Symbols

 


"Gesture Signals" were replaced by "Field Signals" in the 1948 (5th Edition) Handbook for Boys, the latter being based on William Hillcourt's earlier "Silent Signals" which did not include the Attention ("Sign's Up!") signal.
